ET families are extremely close knit. ET parents invest great time and energy in their children, seeing them as the continuation of their race. They are wonderful parents in every sense.

Earth is one of the very rare planets that still practices monogamy. Most ET races take multiple partners and practice what we'd call polyamory - in a non-hierarchical form.
Polyamory is the practice or support of maintaining committed, romantic, and/or sexual relationships with more than one partner at the same time, with the full knowledge and consent of all involved individuals. It is a form of consensual non-monogamy that emphasizes open communication, trust, mutual respect, and the management of jealousy.

Consent and openness: All partners must agree to the arrangement and be aware of each other’s relationships.

Emotional and/or sexual intimacy: Polyamory often involves deep emotional connections, not just casual sex.

Flexibility: Relationships can be hierarchical (one primary partner and secondary partners) or non-hierarchical (all relationships equally valued).
No, this does not mean the ET"s are promiscuous. They are far more strict about sexual morals than earth humans are. I had to explain what "hooking up" meant and they found the very idea disgusting.
Why do Terrans have such a negative view of having multiple partners?
Monogamy Programming
If you're going to conquer and control a planet of 8 billion people, you have to first destroy the very foundation of that planet - marriages/significant other relationships and the family. The Draconian Reptilians accomplished this with resounding success.
When they were genetically tinkering with Terran DNA to create their slave race, they hardwired a monogamy gene into Terrans. In recent years Swedish scientists discovered this monogamy gene.

In addition to hardwiring this monogamy gene into us, they launched a religious marketing program of sorts, demonizing multiple partner relationships and eventually, making them illegal altogether. It's much easier for them to tear two people apart than multiple partner relationships in order to take down the foundation of our society.
In reality, Terrans were practicing polygamy in early Earth societies, right up until 1000 years ago.
I was skeptical of this whole multiple partner relationships thing too initially. Now I know that the ET's were very smart in doing this. For starters, the Dracs have tried to break up these multiple partner unions and have failed each and every time they've tried.
Secondly, it's just much more practical all the way around in that you have more than one partner with which to share the daily work load, raising children, etc. You also have more emotional support when you need it.
Nor do ET relationships deal with adultery, divorce, nasty custody battles, domestic violence, rape, incest, pedophilia or any of the other related problems present on Earth.
Then again, some ET races don't leave the forming of partnerships up to luck or lust.
Within the Angelics the Council pairs up two Angelics who are the perfect balance of one another in energy, personality, etc. They then combine a number of these pairings into multiple partnerships. Since an Angelic's only purpose for existence is to be of spiritual service to the cosmos, these "unions" as they're called are not like earth marriages but more like spiritual service teams that work together in unconditional love. Their focus is entirely different than that of Earth marriages.
An Angelic can find their own partner(s) but the partnership must still be sanctioned by Council to ensure it will be balanced and therefore, lasting.
Angelic children are created in pure energy form by an Angelic couple physically manifesting them with energy and intent. An Angelic child is only created by societal agreement. The Arcturans reproduce in this same way. If the Angelic child would manifest into physical form, it would appear as a child of about 4 earth years old.
All union partners then raise the child together to prepare it for its future spiritual service role.
In the Pleiades, prospective partners 'date' for a year and must be 75 of their years old to 'date.' At the end of that year they separate for a year, having no contact with one another. This is done to give each of them the opportunity to think about and decide whether or not they want to become long term partners.
At the end of the second year they are reunited. If they still want to become partners they go through 'marriage counseling' with one of their councils. Only after they've completed that counseling can they become partners.
No, the ET's don't see this council oversight as being interference or any kind of intrusion. They know their councils very successfully pair up partners so welcome this oversight in guiding them.
Angelic Teens: They have very close relationships with their elders, whom they greatly respect and even enjoying socializing with them.
When an Angelic teen starts 'dating', they ask their parents/elders to accompany them on their 'dates' to get their opinions on the person they're 'dating'. They've seen how successful their elders relationships are and want the same for themselves. If their elders give the person they're 'dating' a thumbs up, they continue to pursue the relationship. If they get a thumbs down, the two part ways amicably, understanding there's just something in the relationship that wouldn't work with the two being suitable long term union partners.
